How to Help Dogs with Separation Anxiety

Did you know that separation anxiety in dogs is a serious issue?

It’s true! If you have a dog with separation anxiety, it’s important that you do what you can to help. Left untreated, separation anxiety can lead to destructive behavior, aggression, and more.

Don’t panic if you need help with your dog’s separation anxiety, we’re here to guide you. This article will tell you how to help dogs with separation anxiety so they can become healthier and happier.

Provide Plenty of Exercises for Your Dog

One of the most important things you can do is to provide plenty of exercise for your dog. A tired dog is a calm dog, and a calm dog is less likely to be anxious. Make sure to walk or run your dog every day, and provide some other form of exercises like playing fetch or Frisbee.

You should also make sure to give your dog plenty of attention when you are home. Avoid leaving him alone for long periods of time. If you must leave your dog alone, make sure to give him some food puzzles or chew toys to keep him occupied.

Create a Calming Environment for Your Dog

To help your dog feel more relaxed, create a calming environment before you leave. One way is to play soft music or use a calming diffuser with soothing essential oils. This can help to ease your dog’s anxiety and make them feel more relaxed.

You may also want to try providing them with a special toy or blankie that they can have with them when you’re gone. This can provide comfort and help to ease their anxiety.

You may also want to consider teaching your dog some relaxation exercises, like belly breathing. With some patience and training, you can help your dog feel more relaxed when you’re away.

Try Giving Hemp to Your Dog

Hemp for dogs can be a great way to help with separation anxiety. It can help to calm a dog with separation anxiety down and relax them.

You can give your dog hemp in the form of treats, oils, or powders. It is important to make sure that you give the hemp to your dog in the correct dosage. Too much can be dangerous for them.

Desensitize Your Dog to Being Away From You

You can desensitize your dog to being away from you to help ease their anxiety. Do this by gradually increasing the amount of time you’re gone each day.

Start with short absences and work up to longer ones, making sure to praise and reward your dog when you return. With time and patience, you can help them overcome their dog separation anxiety.
