Top Educational Movies For Teachers

Movies for teachers? Are you sure about that? Are some of the questions running in your mind right now after reading the above headline, right?

Well, the answer to your questions is a fat yes.

While students might seem to be fonder of these kind of things, most teachers often don’t have the time to “waste” watching movies. If it seems like a waste of your precious time, you might want to consider getting professional help from the My Essay Geek and create more free time to hear what I have to say.

Educators often shapes up and influences millions of lives out there. It’s their obligation to teach and instill knowledge in any population. But to efficiently teach and impact lives, they have to find a way to connect and advice students at a personal level.

This means that teachers often have to find common things that students like and use them to change their lives. Since most children share a common love for films and movies, it can be a great idea to find a way to connect with them at this level, don’t you think?

Therefore, we’ve compiled a list of education-related movies to help you with this mission.

Here they are:

In To Sir, With Love (1967) – managing unruly students can be very challenging. But before you give up on them, this movie might just be the inspiration you are looking for. In this film, one engineer by profession comes to teach obnoxious students in a small town in East End of London. Despite his earlier thoughts of doing this temporarily, Mark Thackeray (Sidney Poitier) falls in love with his experience and decides to continue with this new path. The interesting thing is that he decides to stoop to his students’ level in order for him to teach them the importance of self-respect and respect for others. The movie has very exciting scenes and its moral value is something that should be emulated by most teachers today.

Up the Down Staircase (1967) – this is another classic that every teacher must watch – my opinion. In this film, a young teacher by the name Sylvia Barrett (Sandy Dennis) begins her teaching journey as a class teacher in a problem school located in a very rough community. Being her first time, she’s rather naïve and students make fun of her. However, she later changes her perception and starts to really see them for who they are. A young generation that needs help to get out of a very nasty cycle in life, rather than her enemies. Despite breaking a few rules here and there, she manages to break through and turn things around with compassion and understanding.

From these two teacher-oriented classic films of all time, it’s inspiring to see how teachers can use their unique qualities to change lives for the better. Who knows, this film might just be the inspiration you’ve been searching for to manage your unruly lot back in school.
