Dog Breeds that are commonly bred with a Great Dane

Great Dane dogs are also known as Apollo Dogs in many parts of the world. They are famous for their extraordinary height and athletic build. These dogs have a towering personality and a height of 32 inches. As a result, Great Dane proves to be excellent home guards. Yet, they can be very sensitive.

Owing to many such factors, Great Dane is a common choice for creating hybrid dog breeds, wherein these dogs are bred with other breeds. For instance, Great Dane Boxer mix are widespread. The hybrid dog breed has its name now – Boxane.

However, many more hybrid dog breeds are commonly bred with Great Dane, such as:

Great Dane and American bulldog mix

Both of the breeds in the mix are highly intelligent and trainable. Having a Great Dane bred with an American bulldog makes the hybrid dogs an excellent security dog as they will scare the strangers on your property. As a result, these breeds are often used by police and other security agencies.

This mixed breed can be very muscular with a large head and a long tail. But since these dogs tend to inherit the bulldog’s muzzle, ]they are prone to breathing issues.

Great Dane and American Foxhound mix

These are relatively newer forms of hybrid. These hybrid dogs are medium-sized and can weigh from eighty to a hundred and twenty pounds. This mixed-breed makes up for a perfect companion for exercising and hiking. And with its sweet, intelligent, and trainable nature, this breed is ideal for families that enjoy the occasional hike or long walks.

Great Dane and Boxer mix

When both of these breeds are mixed, it results in a beautiful and healthy hybrid. This hybrid is known as Boxane. Boxane dogs are keen to exercise and will not shy away from going on long walks. These are large-sized dogs that can weigh up to a hundred and fifty pounds. While these dogs may look bigger, they are very social and friendly with children. However, they may often prove challenging to handle in front of strangers. So, socializing and training them from an early age is a good idea.

Great Dane and Mastiff mix

These dogs are commonly known as Daniff. They are a mix of two of the giant dog breeds. The Daniff can reach the height of thirty-four inches and can be very heavy. These dogs have a coat that is prone to seasonal shedding, and they also need proper grooming. However, they are loyal, playful, and gentle dogs that might behave like couch-potato.

Great Dane and Doberman mix

The mix of Great Dane and Doberman is known as Doberdane. They are an intelligent breed that can prove to be good protection dogs. However, these dogs require a trained owner to master them. Such breeds of dogs are giant as they can reach the height of thirty-five inches.

In addition to these, other typical dog breeds that are bred with Great Danes are Saint Bernard, Rottweiler, Pitbull, and German Shepherd.
