6 Effective Ways of Training a dog

Are you a dog owner? Do you find it hard to train your do? Whether as the pet owner or a hired trainer of any given dog. Well, you will agree with me that sometimes it takes a challenging decision to choose which way to train your dog.

You even have a chance of misleading your dog depending on your command. To avoid all these, you must find effective ways of training a dog.

Below are practical ways you can use to train your dog, let’s dissect them, and by the end, you can get which one suits you as a pet parent or the trainer;

1. Positive Reinforcement

Here, a dog is rewarded for accomplishing good behavior repeatedly over time. It would help if you did not appreciate destructive behaviors; instead, the reward should be removed as a correction measure so that the dog can stick to good behaviors only. When the prize is taken away, the dog will get to know what is good and what is wrong.

For the positive reinforcement method to be well and practical, you should do it regularly and repeatedly over and over. The repeat of it will make the dog get used to the command. Everybody within the household should adopt and use a similar reward and control to make it stick to the dog. Make it a habit to reward your dog anytime it accomplishes the desired task.

2. Relationship-Based Training

As the name of the method suggests, it is done based on the relationship between the dog and the owner or the trainer. Once their needs are met, a strong connection is established between the dog and the human. The benefit results from the mutual understanding between the dog and the human.

Before resuming any training session, the dog’s owner or trainer must understand its body language. It will help to meet the basic needs and create that connection.

3. Clicker Training

If you are a new dog owner, this is the easiest and most effective way of training your dog. A hand device produces a sound when a dog completes the desired behavior. Creating a sound with a device is more straightforward than using your voice whenever your dog achieves the desired behavior. This method is very effective and is familiar to most dog trainers and owners.

4. Negative Reinforcement Method

In this method, we are not using the term negative to mean bad. And it doesn’t necessarily imply that you will be abusive to the dog. In negative reinforcement, you focus on increasing behavior while taking a bad thing away. So from that, you develop behavior by taking away things that are not desirable.

A good example can be when you are walking along the street and want your dog to walk on the left side; you will be required to pull the dog to the left to correct it. So anytime you step on the street, it will always keep left since.

5. Science–based training

Here, animal behaviorists study and investigate the dog’s nature and behaviors, to understand them fully. A vital point to remember is that all dogs follow a particular law of science in their learning. The outcomes of their behaviors are what they continually learn and adopt. Similarly, all the dog trailers follow a specific rule of science during the training.

6. Electronic Dog training

This method involves using an electric collar to train your dog. When the dog does not execute the desired duty, the electric collar will drive and shock it. It is used chiefly in withdrawn training where you can’t restrain the dog.

A trainer will set specific rules under which the dog will be expected to work. The electric collar will restrain the dog from staying within the area of the specified regulation. The dog may be required to stay within specific boundaries or perform a field task; the electric collar will sustain it within those boundaries.

Conclusion

There are many ways to train your dog effectively. Other dog pieces of training do not need expertise or just a little experience. Many people who own dogs need to gain the skills to teach them.

So if you are a trainer with such a person, introduce them to the training using the most straightforward methods. Make the activity quick so it becomes a smooth exercise. Above all, make the training very effective and fun simultaneously.
