Is CBD Oil Safe for Pets

Creatures on the earth’s ecosystem are all deeply connected; humans, animals, and plants. Each species relies on the others’ existence for nourishment and survival. While everyone knows the importance of plants and trees, many tend to overlook the value of animals to the world.

Animals play a huge role in human life. Since time immemorial, animals have been part of the human world and its development. They have contributed to humankind so much more than we could imagine. Humans rely on them for so many benefits. They have served as a source of food, clothing, medicine, and many other economic human needs. Some animals even have helped in alleviating human work and some have helped in keeping humans alive by fighting off those killing humans, including other animals that directly harm humans and those that bring disease. Animals, even by just doing what is innate to them, benefit humans in a lot of ways.

One way, animals have helped humans in becoming a source of companionship. We have learned to domesticate and tame animals over time. Eventually, we have developed emotional attachments towards them and made them our home companions. We have allowed them to become part of our daily lives. Animals, not only do they provide us companionship, but they also relieve us from stress and give us emotional support. Our fur babies benefit us in more ways than one. Dogs are probably the most popular pets in the world. Known as “man’s best friend”, pups are one of the most loyal pets ever. They are very smart animals and they serve a lot of purpose in society. They can be trained to help people in various activities. Some are trained to be therapy dogs to assist people in health centers, some are trained to be rescue animals to help in search and rescue during calamities, some are trained to be assistance animals to help people who are physically impaired, and some are even used to detect illnesses. There are a lot of things a dog can do.

Dogs do so much for us than we know. They bring so much joy and happiness to our lives. They are more than just pets, they are family to us. In fact, they are more loving, empathetic, and reliable than most people in our lives. Dogs impact our lives greatly. Click here to know more about how dogs affect us.

With everything that they provide us, it is only right that we give them the utmost love they deserve. As pet owners, it is our responsibility to take proper care of our house companions. Proper care means feeding them right, providing them a liveable environment, giving them ample time to exercise, observing proper grooming and dental care, taking them to the vet for check-ups and necessary vaccinations, teaching them commands, and spending time and communicating with them.

Is CBD oil safe?

Taking care of pets also means giving them the right treatment should they get sick. According to some people, cannabis oil or CBD can treat a number of health conditions for dogs. Cannabis oil is the liquid derived from a marijuana plant. It is believed that it can treat seizures, nausea, anxiety, stress, gastrointestinal issues, arthritis, back pain, and cancer symptoms, among others. Although there has been no scientific study to prove this claim, observation from the dog community suggests that it is indeed effective in treating some health conditions in dogs.

According to a number of veterinary doctors, when cannabinoids in marijuana interact with the receptors in the body of a dog, pain, nausea, and anxiety get relieved. Moreover, cannabinoids interacting with the endocannabinoid system will help maintain balance in a dog’s body, consequently keeping it healthy. Several scientists have also confirmed that CBD contains anti-inflammatory, anti-nausea, anti-cancer, and anti-anxiety properties. Furthermore, doctors have pointed out that cannabis oil, if dispensed properly, does not have a psychoactive effect on dogs. Over-dosage of cannabis oil, on the other hand, can mean risks for dogs.

Although cannabis oil has no life-threatening risks to dogs, it is still very important to be careful about giving it to our fur buddies. We do not want something bad to happen to our four-legged best friends. We must have full knowledge about CBD before administering it to our pets. It is better that we wait for further studies about the subject before getting into it.
