The Everything Guide to Working with Animals

My latest book, The Everything Guide to Working with Animals, (Adams Media; April 2009) was such a joy to write because I got to hang out with people who love their work. I also got to hang out with the animals. In one case, I came less than an arm’s distance from an ostrich. He towered over me, and I had the sense not to extend my hand. Still, it was a thrill.

The book contains interviews with a wide range of professionals, from animal behaviorists to zoologists. I even interviewed a makeup artist for animal actors. (Yes, that job does exist.
